Finish Disclaimer

We want you to love your cabinetry, so here are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to color and finish:

Images: All the photos you see on our site were taken in a controlled environment and may look a little different depending on your device's lighting, settings, or display. To get the best color match, if your browsing on a mobile device, try increasing your brightness to about 90% for a more accurate view.

Wood Features: Wood is a natural material, so there will always be some variation in color, grain, and texture. These natural features can make your cabinetry look unique and beautiful, but they also mean no two pieces are exactly the same. For Example:

  • Color Variations: Different parts of your cabinetry (like doors, drawer fronts, and face frames) may vary in color, even if they are all made from the same type of wood. The color will also be affected by the density and grain of the wood.

  • Hairline Cracks: Especially on painted surfaces, small cracks may appear around joints and hardware. These are completely normal and happen over time as wood expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. These cracks may become more noticeable as your cabinets age.

  • Exposure to Smoke & Low Ventilation: Cabinets that are exposed to smoke or areas with poor ventilation can change color over time, particularly painted cabinetry.

Solutions for some issues: If you are concerned about some of these natural occurrences, you might want to consider HDF panels, which can help reduce the visibility of curtain features. Our team would be happy to discuss these options with you.

Best Color Match: While we do our best to show you true-to-life images, the best way to ensure your happy with the color is to order a physical color sample to look at in person

The Nature of Real Wood

Real wood is a beautiful, living material, and with it comes some natural behaviors that are just part of the charm. It’s important to understand these characteristics so you're prepared for what to expect.

  • Aging: Wood naturally changes over time, especially with exposure to sunlight, which can speed up the aging process. Different wood types will age in their own unique way, so the appearance of your cabinetry may evolve with time.

  • Color Variation: One of the beautiful things about wood is that no two pieces are exactly alike. Expect some natural variations in color between different pieces of wood used in your cabinetry.

  • End Grains: The end grains of wood tend to absorb stain or finish more deeply than other parts, which can give them a slightly different look. This is totally normal and adds to the unique character of your cabinets.

  • Joint Expansion: Due to changes in the environment (like temperature and humidity), wood naturally expands and contracts. Over time, this can cause joints to become slightly more visible. It’s a normal part of the wood’s behavior and adds to its organic charm.

  • Mineral Streaks: Some wood species naturally contain mineral streaks or marks, which may differ from the surrounding wood grain. These are natural features of the wood and are not considered defects.

We hope this gives you a better understanding of what to expect with your custom cabinetry! Wood is a natural, living material, and we believe its unique characteristics make it all the more beautiful. If you have any questions about these natural features or need help selecting the perfect options for your space, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.
